Personal Statement:

I research financial sector regulation and public policy formation. My dissertation examines the savings and loans crisis of the 1970s and 1980s in order to identify the competitive, technological, and intellectual changes that brought about the demise of the S&L industry. The project also details how expert knowledge influenced policymakers’ interpretations and responses to thrift instability. My interest in S&Ls has shaped my understanding of how the history of financialization, securitization, and deregulation influenced the trajectory of the U.S. financial sector.
