A collection of essays co-edited by Prof. Elena Aronova titled Science Studies during the Cold War and Beyond: Paradigms Defected, has recently been published. This book – a contribution to the history of science during the Cold War- explores the emergence of the field known as “science studies.”
One of the main contributions of the collection – which Aronova co-edited with Simone Turchetti from the University of Manchester – is to note how science was not just something that scientists did but a topic that was subject to considerable and often anxious scrutiny on both sides of the Iron Curtain.
