About the Course:
This survey course covers the history of modern Palestine and Israel. It is based on a
comparative perspective that allows students to engage with primary materials, secondary
historical texts, literary narratives, and cinematic representations. This course provides
students with the historical and theoretical tools to engage formations of nation and history in
Palestine and Israel. Rather than formulating solutions, this course aims to understand narratives, collective memories, and national projects.
Pre-requisites:
History 46 or upper-division standing.
