Daniela Dahn was born in Berlin, studied journalism in Leipzig and worked as a TV-journalist. After 1981 work as a freelance journalist and writer. In 1989, she was a founding member of the civil rights group “Demokratischer Aufbruch.” Numerous prizes, such as the Fontane prize,
the Tucholsky prize, and the Boerne prize, and various professorships in the UK and USA. Her latest book is titled: Wehe dem Sieger! Ohne Osten kein Westen, Reinbeck: Rowohlt, 2009. (amazon.de page).
