Martyrs, Apologists and the Ancient Novel

Kate Cooper is Professor of Ancient History in the Department of Ancient History and Classics at the University of Manchester. Professor Cooper’s research interest is in the cultural, social, and religious history of late Roman society, with a special focus on the Roman family and the Christianization of Roman elites. She is the author, most recently, of ,i>The Fall of the Roman Household (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2007), and “Closely Watched Households: Visibility, exposure, and private power in the Roman domus,” Past and Present 197 (Nov. 2007), 3-33. Professor Cooper directs the Centre for Late Antiquity and the Constantine’s Dream Project at the University of Manchester.
