Historical Literature – Women, Gender, and Sexuality

HIST200G

About the Course:

How do the intellectual and political stakes of gender history differ from women’s history? How have feminist scholars responded to theoretical developments, such as poststructuralism and the post-Anthropocene, and to decolonial and postcolonial epistemologies? How do categories such as gender, women, and queer transform in meaning across time and place? We will consider these questions and others in History 200G: Historical Literature – Women, Gender, and Sexuality. Those enrolled will read texts across disciplines, albeit with a focus on historical scholarship. It will “prepare M.A. candidates for their comprehensive examination fields, but [is] also appropriate for Ph.D. students seeking broad preparation.”
