DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an interdisciplinary webinar on the past and present of tea in South Asia. The history of tea is both fascinating yet one fraught with tensions inherent in the history of global capitalism. The attraction of a cup of tea seeped only gradually into the lives of the common people and involved much effort and investment on the part of various Tea Associations\, companies and committees. Colonial politics\, we contend\, was always at the center of the South Asian tea industry\, its propaganda\, publicity\, and labor struggles.
