SUMMARY:Martyrs\, Apologists and the Ancient Novel
DESCRIPTION:Kate Cooper is Professor of Ancient History in the Department of Ancient History and Classics at the University of Manchester.  Professor Cooper’s research interest is in the cultural\, social\, and religious history of late Roman society\, with a special focus on the Roman family and the Christianization of Roman elites.  She is the author\, most recently\, of \,i>The Fall of the Roman Household (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press\, 2007)\, and “Closely Watched Households: Visibility\, exposure\, and private power in the Roman domus\,” Past and Present 197 (Nov. 2007)\, 3-33. DESCRIPTION:Mikael Wolfe is a visiting assistant professor of environmental history at UCLA. He is an expert in history of modern Mexico\, specifically agrarian reform\, water policy\, and environment. He is currently working on a book manuscript entitled\, “A Thirsty Revolution: Water\, Technology\, and the Ecological Demise of Mexican Agrarian Reform.” Professor Wolfe will be speaking about the historical uses of the “ejido.”
