Having first professed vows as a member of the Order of Friars Minor (the Franciscans) in 1981, I was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico in 1986. I continued to work with Native Americans in Jemez, Zia, Santa Ana, Cochiti, San Felipe and Santo Domingo Pueblos until 1990. I worked teaching men who sought to become Franciscan friars full time from 1990 until 1993. I then became pastor of a largely Hispanic parish in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2000, I returned to full time formation work, before coming to UCSB to start studies in the fall of 2004. (more...)
