Environmental historian describes legacy of 40-year old policy

Prof. Peter Alagona was recently interviewed for his views on the history of the Endangered Species Act. Alagona appeared in a variety of national and regional venues including National Public Radio’s weekly show Science Friday as well as KQUED’s Forum and Minnesota Public radio.

December 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of the act’s signing into law. Peter’s expertise on the subject is captured in his recent book After the Grizzly (University of California Press, 2013). More details can be found on Peter’s web site.

Alagona offered another perspective of the subject as well for the Santa Barbara Independent in a piece called 40 Years of Protecting Rare Critters.

Prof. Alagona will also discuss the history and effects of the Endangered Species Act as part of the Culture and Nature series at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. This will be on February 6 at 7 p.m.
