Rosie Cano Bermudez is completing a dissertation, “Doing Dignity Work: Alicia Escalante and the East Los Angeles Welfare Rights Organization, 1967-1974.” Her research focuses on the struggles waged by single Chicana welfare mothers in East Los Angeles at the confluence of multiple social movements. She is currently a Woodrow Wilson Women's Studies Fellow and Ford Fellow at UC Santa Barbara. Her chapter for discussion can found here
