Jane McAlevey is an organizer, author and scholar. She has published two books on labor organizing in the current political climate, and is working on her third, tentatively titled Striking Back. She has a PhD from CUNYs Graduate Center and recently completed a two year postdoc at Harvard Law. She continues to work as an organizer on union campaigns, lead contract negotiations, and train and develop organizers.
McAlevey has provided two pieces to read for the colloquium, the preface to a new edition of her second book, No Shortcuts, which can be found here and a sample chapter for her current project, Striking Back, here. Both papers require a password to access. The password is included in E-mails to Center list-serve subscribers.
