William P. Jones Reflects on the Role of Labor in the Civil Rights Movement

William P. Jones, History Professor at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, is a leading historian of the 20th Century United States, with a particular interest in race, class and work. He has written books on African American industrial workers in the Jim Crow South and the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963. At UCSB, he will lecture on his newest book, The March on Washington: Jobs, Freedom, and the Forgotten History of Civil Rights.This event is co-sponsored by the Great Society at Fifty, the Center for Black Studies, and the Department of Black Studies.

The March on Washington will be available courtesy of Granada Books for sale and signing after the lecture.
