Important Notes (back to top)

  • NOTE: mistake in first line of handout--where it says "think about the Holocaust" it should read "think about Germany after 1945."
ALSO: the Nov. 11 due date (no class that day) is changed to Nov. 13.
  • Although I give links to the amazon pages for many books below, YOU SHOULD NOT RELY ON AMAZON ALONE TO OBTAIN YOUR BOOK. Be sure to check whether our library has it as well, so that you can start reading before your own copy arrives.
  • I have not looked up all books to see whether they are available at UCSB, so don't assume that because there is no call number that we don't have a copy.
  • I DO recommend that you purchase the books (I really hate it when people mark up library books--and there are severe penalties for that), but in the past there have been problems with books students ordered taking more than 2 weeks to arrive. So you should have a back-up plan!
