Western Civilization (1050 to 1715 CE)

About the Course:

A general survey course, designed to acquaint the student with major developments that have influenced the course of western civilization since the earliest times. These developments are as likely to be in religion, the arts, and sciences as in the more traditional political field. Weekly discussion sections are an important feature of this course, enabling the student to develop and expand upon material presented during the lecture hour. Satisfies General Education Requirements: Area E: Culture and Thought, European Traditions, and Writing


Not open for credit to students who have completed History 4BH.
