I’ve been at Sam Houston State since the fall of 1992. I’ve taught a variety of American history courses, most having to with gender and sexuality. The latest is titled “History of American Death Ritual.” I am currently researching Myrtle Stedman of Santa Fe, NM, the first woman in the state to hold a contractor’s license. She designed new, and preserved and repaired old, adobes and helped to create the Santa Fe style of architecture long before John Gaw Meems, who gets all of the credit.
