Personal Statement:

Nancy A. Winter received her B.A. in classics cum laude from UCSB and her PhD in classical archaeology from Bryn Mawr College. She has excavated at Poggio Civitate (Murlo) in Tuscany and Morgantina in Sicily, as well as at Ancient Corinth in Greece, and spent two seasons at Kourion on Cyprus preparing the publication of terracotta statues and figurines. Her life-long study of ancient terracotta roofs in Greece and Italy has resulted in two books, two volumes of conference proceedings, and numerous articles. She has received three NEH Research Grants and is an elected foreign member of the Istituto di Studi Etruschi ed Italici in Florence, Italy.
