Cold War Comics!

UCSB History Associates event draws enthusiastic audience.

UCSB History PhD student Paul Hirsh drew an enthusiastic crowd for his talk, “Why Are These Men Smiling?
The Cold War in the Comics,” held at the Unity Church in Santa Barbara on Tuesday, October 23. Hirsh’s dissertation focuses on American comic books and foreign policy from 1940-1960.

Hirsh’s talk was sponsored by the UCSB History Associates, a community group founded in 1987. The History Associates generously support UCSB History graduate students, and partner with the History Department for lunchtime talks and other events.
