April Haynes wins Lancaster Dissertation Award

Humanities and Fine Arts Prize will be awarded at Commencement

April Haynes has won the UCSB Lancaster Dissertation Award in Humanities and Fine Arts, for the best dissertation over a two-year period on campus. April will be presented with the award at the Commencement Ceremony, and her dissertation will be entered in a national competition sponsored by the Council of Graduate Schools and University Microfilms International. The UCSB History department has had several Lancaster Award winners in the last two decades, including one who is now our colleague, Prof. Beth DePalma Digeser (homepage). Another, Bev Schwartzberg, won the national award in 2001.

April previously won a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship, granted by the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, Massachusetts. (news item)
